PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint — Preview Every File Type Without Leaving NoteVault

A typical project folder isn't all markdown — it's a PDF from a client, a Word doc with tracked changes, a spreadsheet of numbers, a slide deck, a handful of reference screenshots, maybe a config file. Normally that means five different programs opening and closing as you work through a project. NoteVault previews all of it inline instead.

One app, every format

PDFs render with working search and zoom, Word documents and PowerPoint slides preview without needing Office installed, spreadsheets open as readable tables, images display directly, and code files get real syntax highlighting. You click a file in the tree and it opens in place — no separate viewer window, no "which program handles .xlsx again."

Two files, side by side

Split view means a reference PDF and the markdown note you're writing against it can sit in the same window, each independently scrollable — useful for anything where you're translating one document into another, not just switching back and forth between two windows.

The point isn't that NoteVault replaces Word or Excel for actually editing those formats — it's that checking what's in a file, or referencing it while you write something else, never requires leaving the vault.
